Shell has adopted Binding Corporate Rules (PDF, 545 kB)

 which provide a privacy compliance framework which has been approved by the Dutch Data Protection Authority such that Shell companies are able to lawfully transfer personal data to other companies within the Shell group in compliance with EU data protection law.

Shell uses artificial intelligence (AI) technologies to support business operations, including tools that assist with document handling, communication, and data analysis. These tools may process personal data that have been lawfully collected and are within Shell's systems in accordance with the Data Privacy Act of 2012, to generate responses or perform tasks. Shell takes steps to minimise risks to individuals, including thorough transparency measure, data governance, and human oversight.
